What to do first
What to do in the first few hours after an emergency, whether you're a resident, City employee, business owner, or volunteer.
Resident
- Stay where you are, if it is safe. Otherwise, learn where you can go to stay safe.
- Contact family members to ensure they are safe.
- Monitor social media, radio, and the internet for updates.
- Download the Alertable app. The app is free and can be downloaded to your mobile phone, tablet, computer, or smart speaker from Apple Play Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). When you receive an alert for a significant emergency from the City, you will receive clear and direct instructions on how to stay safe.
